Back in November, we told you about the mass campaign from Angry Birds fans to convince Rovio to bring back some of their earliest mobile games, including the original Angry Birds. You see, those early Rovio games were made with outdated technology and eventually some of them became incompatible with the latest smartphone hardware and operating systems, leading to them being removed from various app stores. For the last few year s, Angry Birds fans launched a campaign called #BringBack2012 to let Rovio know they love the original. Angry Birds the game back, preferably the 2012 version, when many believe the game was at its peak. The campaign successfully caught the attention of Rovio, who vowed to get serious about bringing back the original. Angry Birds. Today they fulfilled that promise by releasing Rovio Classic: Angry Birds on the iOS as well as android.
Now if you owned the original Angry Birds a long time ago, it’s actually a brand new release, which means you’ll need to re-purchase this new version. But… it’s only 99 cents and it was actually rebuilt from the ground up in Unity to run on new hardware, which was no doubt a huge amount of work. If it doesn’t cost you a dollar, I don’t know what to say. It’s such a refreshing feeling when I play this original. Angry Birds again. It’s like traveling in a time machine to the simpler days of mobile gaming, to endless IAPs, social media, and grinding. Just a whole bunch of levels to try and get 3 stars using just your skill and charming wobbliness. Angry Birds the physics engine is on your side. So if you want to be transported back to the good times of 2012, or perhaps if you’re a latecomer to mobile gaming and somehow missed out on the phenomenon that was the original Angry Birdsthen check out this new edition Rovio Classic: Angry Birds.
