Playdigious to release Streets of Rage 4 on iOS and Android on May 24th, pre-orders available now – TouchArcade

Without a doubt, one of my favorite video games of the last couple of years is Streets of Rage 4, which was a joint project between Dotemu, Lizardcube and Guard Crush Games. As a child I was a big fan of the original Streets of Rage games on the SEGA Genesis, and more than 20 years later, a new sequel came out, created by the same group of people who lovingly remade another of my favorite childhood games, Wonder Boy: Dragon Trapmeant that I couldn’t be more excited about its release. I bought it on Switch as soon as it came out and it was everything I hoped for and more.

The developers have maintained an extreme respect for the original trilogy of games, while also improving the beat ’em up gameplay to offer something more strategic than the usual button presses. Throw in a truly superb hand-drawn art style, a killer soundtrack, and more content and secrets than you can shake your fist at and we have a truly gorgeous modern take on a beloved classic. And now all the glory that is Streets of Rage 4 is directed to iOS and Android devices.

Streets of Rage 4 first launched in April 2020 when the global Covid-19 pandemic brought much of the world to a standstill. Everyone stuck at home due to self-isolation played the new Animal Crossing on Switch, including me. As horrific as the pandemic has been, it’s one of those “shared experiences” that I will always remember fondly. palate cleanser and for me this palate cleanser was Streets of Rage 4. Oh, Tom Nook talked me into another addition to the house and more debt? It’s time to hit someone. What wonderful yin and yang there were in these two games that jumped back and forth.

Of course, the thought occurred to me that Streets of Rage 4 will work great on mobile, and let the wonderful, premium port-loving folks at Playdigious do it. The mobile version will include cloud sync, an updated touch screen interface, Game Center achievements, and controller support. One thing it won’t include right after launch is multiplayer, but it will come as a free update in the future. Other than that, it’s going to be a whole damn enchilada that we’ve been enjoying for the last 2 years on other platforms. Streets of Rage 4 is scheduled for May 24th and you can pre-order it on the iOS App Store here or on the android side that you can pre-register on google play here.
